About
The Advanced Placement Music class is designed for students who have an interest in becoming a well-rounded musician. AP Music is open to all Juniors and Seniors who have previous experience in music theory courses, music technology courses, or previous theory knowledge. Students are encouraged to take AP music for both years. During their junior year, students cover part one of the AP curriculum. During their senior year, students cover part two of the AP curriculum and prepare for the AP exam. The class meets everyday for the entire school year. AP Music incorporates advanced web-based lessons, advanced harmonic analysis, music history, ear-training, sight-singing, composition, and melodic dictation. Students utilize a variety of music writing software such as Finale, Garage Band, and Reason to create their composition projects. The course is designed to prepare students for the AP Music exam at the end of the year.
